The mission of the NYC LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Inc. - NYC LGBT CC is to foster
economic development opportunities for LGBT businesses in the Bronx & in
NYC. It is our hope to increase the visibility and strengthen the place
of LGBT in business in the global economy, starting with our borough. We
are committed to providing the necessary information and resources to
our community in order to ensure their success and endurance, while
assisting in removing barriers and creating new opportunities for
minority businesses. Historically known for its predominant LGBT
population, the dynamics of the Bronx & in NYC are undeniably changing
as our community is preparing for rapid growth and development. This
phenomenon is especially present in the LGBT business community as
alliances are being forged and barriers removed. We intend to partner
and work with government, corporate and small businesses, individuals,
and organizations in order to assist in bringing about further
development and opportunities that will assist LGBT businesses in being
a viable competitor in the global market.

THE BRONX - President Barack Obama is being commended by LGBT communities throughout the city after affirming his support for same-sex marriage.
Bronx resident Rev. Carmen Hernandez, of the New York City LGBT Chamber of Commerce, said the president's message was "awesome" and a giant step for not only the gay community as a whole, but especially for lesbian and minority women in the borough.
State Sen. Ruben Diaz told News 12 The Bronx Wednesday that he loves the gay community, but doesn't support their right to marry. Hernandez responded, calling the senator a hypocrite.
Hernandez also said that the fight for equality isn't over and that more empowerment and education is needed.
